Monte Oliveto Maggiore

In the center of the Crete Senesi, near the beautiful village of Asciano, there is Monte Oliveto Maggiore which has the appearance of the great Benedictine Abbeys.
In three parts, natural cliffs surround the Abbey like a great wall, it is accessed by the drawbridge in the crenellated tower, from which a beautiful Madonna della Robbia seems to welcome you. Beautiful chapels, dedicated to the major saints of the Order, look into the immense green. In the center, the monastery which is the Territorial Abbey, rises solemnly.
From the churchyard, through the open entrance door in the center of the Renaissance building, you will find yourself in the Great Cloister, center and heart of the artistic monument.
